Many thanks for Chichester Observer for including a piece about me on their website, and also attaching a horror video! (not to be watched before bedtime)
http://www.chichester.co.uk/what-s-on/entertainment/selsey-new-book-shows-how-to-battle-the-bottle-1-6574222 I had coffee with an Insurance Underwriter in the City of London yesterday morning. He couldn't remember why we were meeting as he had gone out drinking after we had set the meeting up, all he had was a barely intelligible note in his diary.
The subject got round to drinking, especially as were in a wine bar, and he said more and more his weekends are ruined because he spends the whole time worrying what lies in store for him on Monday when he gets to the office, because he is unsure what he did or might have said on the Friday. I remember that feeling of dread and the strange emptiness in the pit of your stomach from stress. The not being able to wait for Monday to know everything is actually all right, which destroys any enjoyment on the weekend. It is so fantastic knowing that can never happen again, it still gives me nightmares when I think about it however. My friend may well have bought my book in the afternoon - I never push anyone but you could see I had set him thinking, just knowing there is life after drink. An interesting evening spent at Lloyd's of London watching many business colleagues get steadily drunk as the waiters went round constantly topping up the wine glasses. So easy to enjoy when only having water. On the way across the bridge to London Bridge station this was the view of the moon with Jupiter above - quite magical.
