I had one of those free medical check-ups yesterday as I had some time to kill. First time for two years. I am delighted to say my cholesterol is still completely normal and no sign of any type 2 diabetes. Apart from a slightly raised blood pressure all fantastic. It was great fun being asked the lifestyle questions, especially when we got to the drinking set. The guy even said 'now comes the hard part. Please be honest and tell me how many units you drink per day and per week.' How fantastic to be able to smile and say NONE!
On the 18th of April I will be swimming 5000 metres non-stop for charity. My aim is to complete this in under 2 hours. If you would like to sponsor me please link to: http://my.swimathon.org/sponsor/idontdrink
I was thinking today how nice it would be to go round the world when I retire, and that we could afford it by taking a container ship across the Pacific and Atlantic. I wondered why I had not considered it before and the answer is they are dry vessels. I must have dismissed the idea out of hand when I used to drink. Now there are so many new possibilities open to me. What a great life it is without alcohol!
I only just remembered. My own business logo I have had for years is the ethanol chemical symbol. This was quite deliberate because most of my selling opportunities involved copious quantities of booze. What a massive change to go from boasting a love of alcohol, to knocking it on the head altogether. Talk about extremes!
